Generic Sensors Now Shipping in Chrome as an Origin Trial
The v1 specifications are now implemented in Chrome 63. This allows developers to experiment with the APIs and integrate them into their web applications. Here's how to get started:
-
Enable flags: Activate the necessary flags in Chrome to enable motion and environmental sensors.
chrome://flags/#enable-generic-sensor
(for motion sensors)chrome://flags/#enable-generic-sensor-extra-classes
(for environmental sensors)
-
Origin Trial Token: To enable motion sensors on your site for all Chrome 63+ users (regardless of flag settings), sign up for a free token:

Developer Documentation: Consult the documentation to understand how to bind the token with your origin:
TPAC Device APIs Breakout Session Highlights
The Device APIs breakout session during TPAC covered significant discussion points.
- Agenda: TPAC 2017 Device APIs Session
- Minutes: November 8, 2017, Device API Minutes
The primary topic was whether Web Bluetooth should advance to the standards track and be adopted by the WG. The prevailing sentiment suggested that the API should remain in its Community Group for the time being. Provide your feedback on the issue:

Privacy
Alex attended the Privacy Interest Group (PING) call on November 2, and Anssi attended the PING TPAC F2F on November 9. PING is generally content with the specifications and will provide editorial suggestions to acknowledge the completion of their review.

Internationalization (i18n)
The i18n group has been engaged, and the WG has indicated that the specifications do not have i18n implications; therefore, an explicit i18n review is not required.
Device and Sensors WG Rechartering
The Device and Sensors Charter is expected to be submitted for AC review around mid-December. Review the draft charter and provide feedback on any concerns or comments.
